Child development is a journey filled with special moments when children are naturally open to learning certain skills. These short phases are often called “sensitive periods,” when a child has an intense, natural interest in mastering specific abilities, such like language, movement, or order.

Experts in early childhood education explain that these periods are times when learning comes easily to children, allowing them to focus deeply and learn quickly without much effort. Understanding and supporting these natural phases is fundamental to Minerva School’s approach in the Tiny Tots program (Nursery, LKG, UKG).

The process of learning is made enjoyable, active and dynamic. When we support children during these foundational phases with our dedicated approach, we help them build strong foundations for the future and give children the opportunities they need to shine.

For example, the sensitive period for language starts at birth, and this is why the Tiny Tots curriculum has a strong focus on Language development (Listening and Speaking, Reading and writing). Similarly, the period for movement is honored by focusing on both Fine motor development and Gross motor development. We support the sensitive period for order by providing the Best Learning Environment and consistent routines. As parents and teachers, we play an important role in making the most of these periods by providing a language-rich, structured, and stimulating environment to help them thrive.
